There is something so hopeful about spring. The warming weather. The buzzing bees. The buds on flowers. It feels like anything is possible. And at MUD, we are feeling especially hopeful about all of the exciting things we have planned for this year.
We’ve already hosted 6 workshops and reached over 80 participants. New members are coming to the tool library so they can work on all their new spring projects. We celebrated Earth Day by helping support food access and equity in our community through our Little Free Pantry Workshop and by partnering with Seedlings 4 Solidarity for a garden planter build day. And we launched our first ever Tool Fundraising Challenge and raised $1800 to purchase 6 brand new tools including a table saw, belt sander, and hammer drill.
Now, we’re looking forward to putting our energy towards reopening our demonstration site and tool library to the Missoula community! Starting on May 21st members and visitors alike will be welcome to wander around MUD and get reacquainted with the tool library. Over the last year the tool librarians have done a lot of work to get the containers reorganized, cleaned up MUD’s gardens and sustainability demonstrations, fixed up tools, and made finding tools easier than ever before. We can’t wait to show you how great MUD looks!
To keep us all safe and healthy we ask that you still wear a mask while onsite and maintain social distancing whenever possible. Members will be able to go into the containers to select their tools and take them to the tool library office to get checked out. Returns will still be left on the tables outside of the office so the tool librarians can sanitize them before the next user. Tool library open hours remain the same – Monday and Friday from 4-7 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm.
We are so grateful for all of our members, volunteers, and donors that helped us get through the last year and can’t wait to see what projects MUD members accomplish in 2021.
