Since 1981, MUD workshops have provided Missoulians with hands-on experiences in self-reliance. Our workshops teach topics that help you live lighter on the land and lighter on your budget. Past topics include Beer Brewing, Cheese Making, Small Engine Repair, Basic Auto Mechanics, Alternative Energy, Tiling, a Start-to-Finish Gardening Series, and much more! Ranging in skill level from introductory to highly skilled, our workshops pair you with local experts who demonstrate skills and empower you to master them yourself.
Gardening in Bee Country with the National Wildlife Federation
June 27th 10am – 12pm
Join MUD and the National Wildlife Federation to learn all about creating a pollinator-friendly garden space at your own home. Whether you want to support honeybees or one of Montana’s many native bees, you will learn about what bees need to survive, native plants that support pollinators, and even create your own native bee house to take home.
The first half of the workshop will focus on information about honeybees and native bees in Montana and the second half will be hands-on projects. Participants will help plant new native plants at the MUD site and also make their own mason bee house to take home. All supplies will be provided but participants should dress appropriately to be outside for 2 hours.
COVID Precautions: MUD and the NWF will be taking many precautions throughout the workshop to promote the health and safety of participants. The workshop will be limited to 10 participants, all tools will be sanitized between groups, and 6 feet of space will be maintained between participants whenever possible. Participants are encouraged to bring masks for times when they will be working more closely with instructors.
