Soil Science for the Garden

Join Sandy Perrin from Missoula County Extension for a soil science workshop for gardeners. This workshop will cover the basics of soil science, soil testing, soil test interpretation, and soil building techniques. Workshop instructors will cover key concepts, as well as provide participants with hands-on experiences, such as collecting soil samples from the Moon-Randolph Homestead garden, evaluating soil by sight and touch, and deciphering both home- and lab-made test results. More details coming soon! $5 for MUD members and $10 for non-members. Glass Pathways Installation: A volunteer event & community social

MUD is installing repurposed glass pathway at this volunteer event & community social. Recycled, tumbled glass sourced from Missoula's (I.E.) Recycling will be used as a permeable walkway that is both beautiful and functional! Glass pebbles will be poured into a cell-web substrate made of hard recycled plastic forming a stable & handicap accessible surface.  Using GravelPave2 substrate, this project is a demonstration of how we can use a waste product to create porous pathways in Missoula's parks and community…

Co-superintendents of the Western Montana Fair Poultry department, Laura Denitto and Kristin Whisennand, will teach participants about the key needs and considerations for the healthy backyard chicken flock. You’ll learn about city regulations, basics of chicken care, what to expect when having a couple of hens around your home, coop considerations, disease and pest management, and more, while interacting with the Moon-Randolph Homestead’s flock of 40 laying hens and two roosters. $5 for MUD members and $10 for non-members.
