Glass Pathways Installation: A volunteer event & community social
June 22 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
MUD is installing repurposed glass pathway at this volunteer event & community social. Recycled, tumbled glass sourced from Missoula’s (I.E.) Recycling will be used as a permeable walkway that is both beautiful and functional! Glass pebbles will be poured into a cell-web substrate made of hard recycled plastic forming a stable & handicap accessible surface. Using GravelPave2 substrate, this project is a demonstration of how we can use a waste product to create porous pathways in Missoula’s parks and community spaces. Permeable pathways mean that rain water replenishes our aquifer instead of being diverted to storm drains. Volunteers will help us prepare the site, lay out the GravelPave2 substrate, and create a design with multicolored tumbled glass. The MUD Glass Pathways project is made possible with support from the Office of Neighborhoods & Community Forum.
9am-12pm Glass pathways installation: lend a hand or observe!
12-1pm Bring-your-own picnic luncheon.
